SARIPA invites you to attend an informative briefing session on business rescue proceedings and corporate restructuring.

Mr Siviwe Dongwana, Managing Director at Adamantem and Dr Eric Levenstein, Director at Werksmans Attorneys will provide context and insights into corporate restructuring and its legal framework in South Africa as well as current issues surrounding Business Rescue. There will be a Q&A session.

Explaining the process and timelines of Business rescue, and highlighting case studies.
  
  Siviwe Dongwana - Unpacking the practical consequences of a BR, the role and objectives of the BR process, challenges and optimal outcomes for stakeholders, and highlighting case studies.

The South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association NPC (SARIPA) is a non-profit organisation, constituted in 1986, with a countrywide membership of over 700 qualified Insolvency Practitioners, Business Restructuring Professionals, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, Bankers, Academics, Tax Consultants and others involved in liquidation, insolvency and business rescue services. The South African courts, regulators and financial institutions have come to recognise SARIPA as a dynamic organisation effectively representing the business rescue and insolvency professions. SARIPA furthers its members' best interests though its ongoing commitment to transformation and the education of all relevant stakeholders. Through open dialogue with its members and other sectors of the economy, SARIPA builds on its achievements and confronts its challenges, focusing on issues that directly affect how members manage their firms and practices. Through SARIPA's recognition and empowerment, professional members are making their mark on business rescue and insolvency practice, thereby collectively making real contributions to the local economy.

Siviwe Dongwana is co-founder and Managing Director of Adamantem.

A professional of three decades spread across banking, big 4 accounting firm experience, restructuring and turnaround profession and, briefly, in the civil service.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Siviwe has been involved in some major and complex business rescue and restructuring assignments in South Africa including SAA and Basil Read, all of which included major stakeholders with varied and significant exposures and interests.

Siviwe is a member of various professional organizations in South Africa and regularly contributes to panel discussions on restructuring matters.

Dr Eric Levenstein has been a Director of Werksmans Attorneys since 1993 and is the head of the firm’s Insolvency & Business Rescue Practice. He has a particular focus on litigation, business rescue and insolvency, with expertise extending to director liability issues. He regularly delivers seminars and writes for various publications on these topics, among others. He is the author of South African Business Rescue Procedure (published by Lexis Nexis). Eric recently completed his term as the Chairperson of SARIPA and is Chair of the Insolvency Practitioners Group (IPG) of INSOL International - a global association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals. He is also a co-chair of the INSOL Africa Advisory Council. Eric has BCom and LLB degrees, Higher Diplomas in Company Law and Tax, a Diploma in Insolvency Law and a Doctorate of Laws in Business Rescue.
