Meeting with the Chief Master

The Task Team for the branch Master’s Office had our first quarterly meeting with the Chief Master yesterday evening.

Ms P Roberts, Master Pretoria, is the head of the Working Group Insolvency and Bonds of Security.

The proposal is to admit new applications and renewals to the Master’s panel of Insolvency Practitioners this year, the detail to follow shortly.

Items on the Working Group’s agenda include implementing uniform processes and obtaining a legal opinion regarding electronic signatures on bonds of security.

The Chief Master will assist us in obtaining an update on the progress of the draft Insolvency/ Bankruptcy Bill but could confirm that this Bill is not among the 12 Bills tabled for the next session of Parliament.

There is a draft Policy on the appointment of Insolvency Practitioners being considered by the Minister; all stakeholders will be afforded an opportunity to provide comment.
